Spellbound

Spellbound "Foreign Bodies" CoverThis is something fun I've been wanting to do for a while now...I've done a whole bunch of the modified comic book cover images, but this is my very first attempt at a full-blown modified comic story. This is hardly revolutionary--in fact, there are a few fantastic examples of this at femur's TG art pages site--but this is the first time I've personally been able to find a story that I thought would translate really well to a transgender theme.

In addition to the scarcity of good source material, I also discovered that the process to do these is actually pretty slow, since you have to clean up all the pages and then try to match the dialogue to the graphics in such a way that it all blends together. (You wouldn't believe how many changes this went through.) Personally, however, I think the end result was definitely worth it.

So, I guess what I'm saying is this: you probably won't be seeing many more of these out of me, but given the right opportunity, I'd definitely do it again. <grin>

Anyway, enough chitchat...on with the show!

The Story

  1. She can't be a witch...she weighs way more than a duck
  2. The new girls commiserate
  3. The wardrobe grows, but the depression deepens
  4. Things don't look too good for David
  5. David reaches out
  6. Best friends reunited (and then some)
  7. Trouble in paradise
  8. Welcome to the Heartbreak Hotel...you'll be in the honeymoon suite
  9. Interestingly, this word also rhymes with "witch"
  10. Danielle gets sneaky
  11. Don't you love it when a plan comes together?

The Outtakes

Like I said, this story went through a lot of changes. In one draft, the tone was much more irreverent, mostly because I couldn't resist poking fun at some of the characters' outfits. Eventually I decided it worked better to just play it straight, but I thought people might get a kick out of these "behind the scenes" outtakes. (And you didn't even have to spring for the DVD!)

  1. I'll bet she doesn't like mimes, either
  2. Actually, the thin mints are pretty good...
  3. More fun at David's expense
  4. Every relationship is bound to have its problems
